hmmm...

a t-shirt, boxers, and a bed sheet. Gotta think about this...
Okay got it. I wish I had a magic fairy giving me dye and stuff. After a trip to the store for dye, we'll be on our way to awesomeness!

I've taken on the Challenge Myself!

Last year I blogged on my daughter's site about a challenge to the Runway people, and since I'm sure they will never do it that's why I am doing it myself! I've taken on some of the previous challenges randomly, and now I'm not so sure I'll be able to do it, but that's my challenge.

In fact here is a challenge I did for my own. It's not exactly the challenge, but I made all my bridesmaid dresses when I got married, and had a bunch of fabric left over. I made a dress for myself to wear to my husband's Doctorate graduation. All my bridesmaids were tiny, and as a bigger girl I wasn't sure it would work out, but it really did. I loved it.

What I'm gonna do...

Okay so people who read my other blogs or know me you know that I LOVE to sew, and I especially love to create something for women of non standard size, i.e. plus sized, that will fit them and make them look and feel cute rather than frumpy or ill fitting as most plus stuff does. When I was younger I used to say I was going to design clothes for fat girls by fat girls. Plans change and life moves on. I wish I had more training and all that but I seem to function just fine as I am. Project Runway Season 9 is about to begin this week! I can't tell you how excited I am. I love the show, hate the drama, but wish they would do more than just have the one challenge done in plus size. That challenge is always filled with Sizeist comments and horrible put downs to larger women. So what I plan to do for this season is "compete" my way. At home as a mom and business owner. The challenges will be of a graced length of time. Meaning since I only get nap times to really work it might take me a few days to get it done instead of their alloted time. I will use different "models" occasionally to change up the body types and I will try to create something reasonably fashion forward.

You will have a chance to rate my runway looks, and I'll have a chance to try out my creative shoes. I'll be honest and open about my struggles with the challenges. My budget will be considerably less than the contestants use so my fabrics might not be top of the line, but hopefully that won't spoil it too much.

Wish me luck and that I won't give up.
